BALI CULINARY PROFESSIONALS GO WILD
ON INTERNATIONAL CHEFS DAY
Bali, 12 November 2009… Bali Culinary Professionals (BCP) joined together with Bali Safari and Marine Park on Nov 12 to host over 100 underprivileged kids in a dual celebration, International Chefs Day and Second Anniversary of Bali Safari & Marine Park.
International Chefs Day, celebrated around the world, is traditionally a day when chefs reach out to the community.
“This year we decided to treat some local children to a day out at the Safari park. As the park were also planning an orphans day to celebrate their second anniversary, we felt it would be great to combine the events and it turned out so well we are considering making it an annual event,” said Darren Lauder, BCP’s Vice President and Executive Chef of Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa.
Safari adventures, the park’s famous elephant show, games, prizes and a wildly popular cake decorating competition provided the children from four of Bali’s orphanages with some well deserved fun and a lot of laughs.
Members of Bali’s Young Chefs Association, BCP’s Darren Lauder and Sugihanto of Bapak Bakery joined the enthusiastic staff of Bali Safari and Marine Park in hosting the large group of children to a spectacular day at the park.
Their day began with a Safari Adventure, a trip many of them would never otherwise take, then they were brought to the Kampung Gajah area where the Elephant Show is staged to enjoy snacks and drinks. The groups took to the stage firstly to perform for the other schools and then the hugely enjoyable and educational elephant show began.
The chefs had prepared cakes and various icings and decorations and each of the groups sent two students to participate in the hilarious decorating competition. Following that a giant birthday cake prepared by Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa was brought out and the groups sang happy birthday to the park.
Before leaving, all the children were given gifts donated by various sponsors including The Bali Safari and Marine Park and Travel Works Communications International. Other sponsors for the day included Sukanda Djaya who donated all the Diamond ice creams and juices, Bapak Bakery and Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa.
The orphanages invited were:
1. Yappenatim Gianyar
2. Dharma jati Trenggeli
3. Elisama Seseatan and
4. Tat Twam Asi of Renon
