BALI CULINARY PROFESSIONALS BECOMES A MEMBER OF WORLD ASSOCIATION OF CHEF’S SOCIETIES (WACS)
Bali Culinary Professionals’ President Markus Krickelberg announced the association’s membership effective March 2007 to the World Association of Chef’s Societies (WACS), a non-political professional organization with a global network of chefs associations dedicated to maintaining and improving the culinary standards of global cuisine.
“We are proud to become a member of WACS, as the core of Bali Culinary Professionals is to provide outlets to continuously improve the culinary industry in Bali as well as developing skills for its members by providing opportunities in training, education and professional development. WACS proves to have the same goals as BCP as the association represents a global voice on all issues related to the culinary profession in the world” explained Markus.
As a part of its membership, BCP members will be granted access to participate in International culinary events showcasing the young talented chefs of Bali and becoming ambassadors of Indonesian culinary. WACS will also assist in presenting guidelines and rules of international caliber events and becoming a source of information to any of the culinary events being held by BCP as to continuously increase the quality of cuisine and variety of new cuisines developed daily.
The World Association of Chef’s Societies was first established in October 1928 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Its first congress was attended by 65 delegates from 17 countries, representing 36 national and international associations and the venerable August Escoffier was names the first Honorary president of WACS. Today this global body has 72 official chefs association as members, with three that just joined at the 31st World Congress in March. The biennel congress is a hallmark tradition of WACS and has been organized in over 20 cities across the world throughout its illustrious 74-year history, WACS is managed by an elected presidential body consisting of the WACS president, vice president, treasurer, secretary general and ambassador honorary president, as well as a board of continental directors that look after the regions of Asia, Europe, Africa, The Pacific and the Americans.
“Through WACS, we hope that opportunities to take part in international culinary events will be opened to members of BCP, hence continuously developing our mission statements, goals and commitments to culinary professionals in Bali” he further added.
