         TEAM SINGAPORE TO BID FOR WACS PRESIDIUM 2008 AT

BIANNUAL CONGRESS IN DUBAI

 

Singapore, April 15, 2008:  A team of culinary heavyweights from Singapore will be traveling to Dubai in May 2008 in a bid to secure the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) Presidium 2008.  If successful, Asia will, for the first time in 80 years, host the Presidium for a four-year term.  Europe created WACS in 1928 and led it for 50 years.  Since 1980, Canada and the USA were the main drivers, followed by a stint in South Africa and Germany.

Bali, January 21, 2008 … The culinary competition Bocuse d’Or Asia 2008 selection Indonesia will be held for the first time in Indonesia, through the Salon Culinaire 2008 national selection organized by Bali Culinary Professionals (BCP). Each country will organize a national selection, for Indonesia the competition will be held as part of the Salon Culinaire 2008 in the Food Hotel Tourism Bali from February 28th to May 1st 2008 at Nusa Dua.

This month is a very special month for all culinary members around the world, where all chefs will celebrate the World Chefs Day on 18 October 2007. The World Association of Chefs Society (WACS) has declared October 20 as International Chefs Day to create a greater awareness and recognition to all chefs. The announcement was first made during the WACS Congress in Dublin 2004.
